Finance Officer

We're looking for a dynamic professional to assist in managing the day-to-day financial and project accounting operations within RedR, ensuring the accurate processing and recording of financial transactions, and supporting the preparation of financial reports under the guidance of senior finance staff. 

Responsible to: Finance Manager 

Location: London/Amman (Hybrid) 

Post: Full Time, Permanent 

Salary: (2.1) GBP 27448 (London); JOD 16000 (Amman).

Your Role

We are looking for Finance Officer who will play a crucial role in supporting the finance department's daily operations, contributing to the accurate and efficient management of the organisation’s finances. This position involves working closely with the Finance Manager as well as programme managers to maintain financial records, process transactions, and assist in report preparation. 

JOB DESCRIPTION 

Main Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities: 

  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date financial records, including processing invoices, payments, and managing accounts payable and receivable. 
  • Support the month-end and year-end closing procedures under the guidance of the Finance Manager 
  • Help ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations. 
  • Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing necessary data and assistance. 
  • Assist in monitoring cash flow and managing petty cash. 
  • Support the payroll processing and reimbursement procedures. 
  • Participate in the analysis of financial data and preparation of reports for management review. 
  • Support programme staff with financial budgeting and reporting 
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and best practices. 
  • Contribute to the improvement of accounting processes and systems. 

Skills required:  

Essential skills : 

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software. 
  • Experience with basic accounting tasks, such as posting journals and reconciling accounts. 
  • Understanding of charity accounting principles. 
  • Basic to intermediate Excel skills for financial reporting. 
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills. 
  • Problem-solving abilities. 

Other skills:  

  • Excel, Word and Email. Intermediate level excel skills would be sufficient. Should be able to create reports using Excel for management reporting.  
  • Able to communicate effectively. 
  • Be collaborative and is a team player.  
  • Able to analyse to seek solutions for problems. 

Preferred, but not essential skills:

  • Experience with project finance and familiarity with donor requirements (e.g., USAID projects) is an advantage. 
  • Knowledge of foreign currency transactions and automated accounting tools (e.g., DEXT) would be beneficial. 
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new accounting processes and software.
