Peter Sweetnam is currently Vice Chair of the RedR Board of Trustees, and has been on the board for over three years.

Peter joined Merlin as Director of Programmes in February 2007, after working as a security consultant, and as the Director of Programmes for Mercy Corps’ Pakistan earthquake response. Prior to that, Pete was a manager in the emergency response team of Mercy Corps, leading their response to humanitarian emergencies in Iraq, Iran (Bam), Liberia and Darfur.  He also led the response to the Tsunami and Pakistan earthquake. He has worked in the humanitarian sector for most of the past 20 years.

Did you know?

Some of Peter's previous roles include working as a water and roads engineer in and around refugee camps, as a water and sanitation expert, starting an NGO (which still operates) and running his own engineering company for five years.
