Mark Buttle joined RedR following his MSc at the Water, Engineering and Development Centre (WEDC) in Loughborough, in 1998, and was posted to Albania during the Kosovo Crisis. Since then he has worked in Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Pakistan.

Area of interest:

Mark works for Arup in Leeds as an engineering consultant, with the majority of his project work being for Yorkshire Water. In the humanitarian sector, he is experienced in community-based water and sanitation projects, and has an additional specialisation in winterisation of water and sanitation in emergencies and tented camps. As well as a strong belief and commitment to RedR, Mark also enjoys supplying training in water and sanitation to Engineers Without Borders (EWB UK), with whom RedR UK have strong ties at the moment.

Mark used to work as an overland 'truck trip' leader and has driven from London to Kathmandu four times.
