Annual Review

In 2008/09 RedR continued to make a difference - training, supporting and providing aid workers to ensure more effective disaster relief worldwide, saving and rebuilding more lives.

Across all of RedR's programmes in the UK and overseas, thousands of relief workers attended training courses, RedR members continued to make a lasting contribution to relief efforts, and RedR placed a number of skilled professionals overseas.

Achievements 2008/09

  • Trained 1,128 relief workers in 22 countries, running 75 courses
  • In Sri Lanka and Sudan, we ran 150 courses, delivering training to 2,236 participants
  • Increased the number of Bespoke training events by 100%, from 07-08 to 50 in 08-09, delivering training to 638 people
  • Mobilised a medical team to fly out to China withing 48 hours of the request
  • Improved the knowledge and skills of 246 potential new relief workers through our introductory training courses such as Essentials of Humanitarian Practice and So You Think You Want to be a Relief Worker?
