Training courses delivered by RedR in countries affected by disaster are aimed at national staff working for international agencies and staff working for small local organisations. This enables us to build local capacity and build skills and knowledge within disaster-affected countries.
Through building skills, we help communities cope better with current situations and be better prepared for future emergencies, ensuring a sustainable solution. Last year 90% of course participants in Sri Lanka and 80% in Sudan were national aid workers.
When training in disaster-affected countries, we run courses in both English and local languages, enabling the knowledge to be accessible to all who need it. Last year in Sri Lanka, we increased delivery of training in both Sinhala and Tamil and translated 58% of materials into local languages. In Sudan we provide training in both English and Arabic, while in Pakistan courses are delivered in English and Urdu, and in Haiti they are delivered in English, French and Creole.
"I participated in RedR's workshop to improve our services, spread the knowledge to other people working in the field in emergency response situations, and to prepare ourselves and others to face and reduce the risk and losses in the future."

As result of RedR training, Miss Jensiya and her colleagues were able to help a village that was frequently flooded - reducing the threat of loss of life and damage to property and decreasing the rate of disease and infection in the area.
