RedR Vice President and long-term supporter, Michael Bear, has received a knighthood in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List.
Sir Michael became Vice President of RedR in November after a year as Lord Mayor of the City of London in 2010-11. During that time his ‘Bear Necessities’ Appeal raised more than £350,000 to help RedR train aid workers around the world.
A chartered civil engineer, Sir Michael received the knighthood in recognition of his contribution to regeneration, charity and the City.
RedR’s Chief Executive, Martin McCann said: “It is great to see Sir Michael receive such fine acknowledgement for all his efforts and hard work.
“Our part in the ‘Bear Necessities’ Appeal has been transformational for RedR and we are so proud to have Michael as our Vice President. We congratulate him on this, and indeed all, of his very many achievements.”
