Safe disposal of human excreta is a key factor in avoiding the spread of diarrheal diseases. However, 2.6 billion people globally lack access to proper sanitation. In emergencies sanitation, although a high priority, can often be neglected and can lead to outbreaks of cholera.
In-depth training is necessary to raise water and sanitation focused aid workers awareness about the multiple interconnections between technical and social issues, which make sanitation interventions so complex.
