Managing the implementation of shelter programmes is a fundamental part of response in the aftermath of disaster as well as in early recovery situations. Even if managers and coordinators are not responsible for the technical delivery of a programme, they need to identify the scope of shelter programming, the standards used in the sector and make informed decisions about options available to implement their programme.
The workshop will provide an overview of the shelter sector, identifying the breadth of issues that managers may encounter, including principles and common practices in shelter programming.
This is a participatory workshop, and it is envisaged that a range of organisations will be present providing various points of reference and experiences.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
