Suitable for:
Aimed at relief workers who spend a lot of their time in the field travelling between different field sites and therefore are regularly exposed to potential insecure environments.
Course covers:
This course aims to enhance the skills and awareness of relief workers to follow appropriate security guidelines and actions when working in insecure environments. It will help the individual aid worker to understand better his/her role in a given context and how the individual’s behaviour impacts on their personal and their team’s security and safety.
Course outcomes:
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
· Describe and follow the Image & Acceptance concept that forms a crucial part of the NGO approach
· Describe why it’s important to follow and implement a security strategy based on the context in which their agency is working.
· Explain ways to reduce vulnerability through effective self management.
· Respond to situations to prevent or mitigate crisis.
· Report on incidents to facilitate the recording and sharing of security related information.
