Field level programme managers, programme development officers, community facilitators, local government officers, community leaders and other development practitioners who are interested in promoting good practices in humanitarian relief and development field. Practitioners of community based disaster risk management, post conflict / post disaster humanitarian relief, reconstruction and development sector draw equal benefit with these participatory tools
This 3 day module helps learners understand the concepts of participatory monitoring & evaluation and its importance for the successful implementation of programme. It introduces some participatory tools to carry out a community led M&E process.
Course Content:
• Introduction to Participatory Monitoring & Evaluation (PM&E): Purpose, definitions, concepts, types and characteristics of PM&E
• Designing PM&E: basic steps; design elements; setting indicators; whose indicators matter and who measures the success? Participatory evaluation - what it is? Who does it? When? Where? And how?
• PM&E Tools & techniques: applications of CPA
• Introduction to the Causal Pathways Framework: a tool for PM&E
By the end of this module the participants will be able to:
1. Understand the PM&E concepts and the importance of stakeholders’ participation in PM&E
2. Identify, select and practice CPA tools for monitoring & evaluation of community projects
3. Facilitate community based PM&E process
