Suitable for:

Those who are managing field sites, project coordinators, senior field site staff and personnel responsible for parts of safety procedures or activities.

Course covers:

By the end of the course participants will be knowledgeable on:

  • Explaining a systematic approach to security management
  • Conducting an analysis of threats, vulnerabilities and risk
  • Reviewing of security practices and procedures
  • Describing & planning enhanced collaboration between agencies
  • Describing main elements of incidents reporting and management
  • Describing main areas of site assessments for office, compound and field operations.

Course outcomes:

This is a three day workshop intended to equip managers who have safety and security related responsibilities with the understanding and relevant tools to ensure that good programme management is supported by good security management.

The workshop will introduce the participants to the Safety and Security Management Framework (SMF), a management tool which allows managers and safety personnel to take all necessary steps to ensure team security is properly managed. The SMF will be integrated into the Project Management Cycle. Participants should have management responsibility, and therefore have some familiarity with project cycle management.
The next step will then be to explore the use of analysis tools in formulating a strategic response the threats.
This is followed by sessions that look at Security Plans, internal and external dynamics and the integration of safety into the organisation.
