The conference, Future Shocks: disasters and relief in a changing world, was the first of its kind organised by the international disaster relief charity.

An emerging theme to come out of the conference, Future Shocks: disasters and relief in a changing world, organised by disaster relief charity RedR on 5 December, was the need for charities to work together to address global issues as well as utilising expertise from the private sector.

Speaking at Future Shocks: disasters and relief in a changing world - a conference held at The Royal College of Nursing and organised by disaster relief charity RedR on 5 December - leading AIDS expert Dr Mike Meegan commented on the need to look at emerging mega-trends to avoid the deaths of millions in the world's poorest countries.
