Safeguarding at RedR UK

As an organisation whose core aim is to help the most vulnerable people in the world, RedR UK understands the importance of safeguarding and is committed to protecting staff, partners, vulnerable communities and all those that come into contact with our work. We have in recent months taken a number of steps to strengthen our safeguarding practices further and to support the wider humanitarian sector.

RedR UK respects the relevant international conventions and Human Rights frameworks that apply to our programme areas of operation along with the relevant UK and country-specific legislation. RedR UK is a signatory to the Code of Conduct for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, NGOs in Disaster Relief and the SPHERE humanitarian charter. We have reviewed and updated our safeguarding policy and made this publicly available here.

RedR UK has developed robust procedures to ensure that recruitment and selection guidelines integrate safeguarding considerations into all stages of the process. Additionally, we have contacted all our existing Members and Associates to ensure that their information is up to date and meets the new criteria.

RedR UK’s mission is to build the knowledge and skills of individuals and organisations for more effective humanitarian action, including safeguarding practice. We work in partnership with national and international organisations, governments and academic institutions. This enables RedR UK to act as an honest and neutral broker, as well as giving us a good understanding of the broader needs of the sector and the expertise to assist organisations and individuals.
