Each year, millions of people around the world feel the effects of natural disaster and conflict. RedR UK is an international charity that improves the effectiveness of disaster relief, helping save and rebuild the lives of people affected by disaster worldwide. We do this by delivering essential training and learning support to relief organisations and their staff, and by supplying skilled professionals to humanitarian programmes.
This position is within the Europe & Global Initiatives Programme which is the largest of four regional offices within RedR UK and is expanding: in terms of geographical reach so that our work reaches more practitioners across Europe; so that we reach more first responders; so that we deliver a wider range of capacity building services; and so that we deliver more support in DRR and preparedness.
In this role you will be responsible for two projects: Urban Competency Framework and Africa Catalyst Programme. The Urban Competency Framework project will run from January 2018 to February 2019 (13 months). This project is linked to the Global Alliance for Urban Crises (GAUC) and is funded by the European Union. RedR UK is a member of a consortia and is responsible for delivering the Urban Competency Framework component.
Africa Catalyst Programme – this project will run from February 2018 to August 2019 (18 months).
The Federation of African Engineering Organisations (FAEO) is based in Abuja, Nigeria and this 18-month project is focused on building its capacity to function and grow and develop engineering organisations across Africa. This project will involve regular travel to Nigeria and potentially other African countries.
