Security Incident Information Management: Coaching

Security Incident Information Management: Coaching

Threats to humanitarian aid workers have increased in recent years. The SIIM project aims to increase the availability of shared security incident data across the humanitarian sector, allowing humanitarian organisations to make more informed decisions when planning and implementing programmes.

To support the aims of the SIIM project, RedR is providing free coaching to help organisations improve their incident reporting processes by implementing the lessons and best practice approaches outlined in the SIIM Handbook. The Handbook focuses on how to collect, share and communicate relevant data on security incidents, as well as understanding the significance of security incident data within a wider security context.

4 objectives form the backbone of the SIIM Handbook:
Objective 1: To inform immediate reaction and response to a security incident
Objective 2: To implement lessons learned after a security incident for follow-up action
Objective 3: To inform strategic decision-making in the organization
Objective 4: To understand the NGO humanitarian security context

Coaching will be based on these objectives, but will also be tailored to the specific needs of each participating organisation. Please read the handbook before applying.

The coaching will be delivered by qualified RedR coaches online via Skype over 6 x 1 hour sessions.

A maximum of 3 participants per organisation. Organisations must commit to all 6 sessions.

It will be up to each organisation to schedule sessions with their coach.

The sessions can commence in January and all must be complete by 30 March 2018.

Who can apply?

One of the following applies to your organisation. It has:
a) an internal system in place to systematically report all security incidents to HQ
b) does not have an efficient record system at HQ store and analysis security events or
c) does have a basic reporting and analysis system in place but would like to make improvements to this system.

The SIIM project is funded by EU Humanitarian Aid and the coaching is provided free of charge. You simply need to have a good internet connection during the coaching sessions and a commitment to participate in all 6 sessions.

Application and selection process

Please note that the coaching has a 2-step application process. After registering we will send you an additional survey to gather more information and ascertain your suitability for the course.

In your application you must demonstrate an understanding of the “gaps” or “problem areas” in your internal security incident reporting and monitoring systems and a willingness and a desire to improve these.

Interested organisations will need to submit their application by completing the form below.

The deadline for applications is the 10 December 2017.

Apply now or email our training team if you have any questions. If you feel coaching may not be the right approach for your organisation RedR will be offering free trainings on Security Incident Information Management in early 2018.
