Training & Learning

Flexible and accessible, RedR's online learning programme is growing

Our first entirely e-facilitated course is Urban Humanitarianism*, with Urban WASH and Urban Shelter to be launched during 2017. Find the course details in our course calendar, or email us at elearning@redr.org.uk to find out more.

One of our flagship courses, 'Personal Security for Humanitarians', also includes an e-learning component (followed by a residential course enabling participants to put their learning into practice).

More courses are being added all the time, so please stay tuned!

* Urban Humanitarianism, Shelter in Urban Emergencies and WASH in Urban Emergencies have been developed with funding from Lloyd's Charities Trust, as part of the 'Ready to Respond' project.

* The Security Incident Information Management online courses have been developed with funding from EU Humanitarian Aid.

Facilitated e-learning

Our facilitated online courses are the online equivalent of being in a training room and learning together as a group using collaborative activities - but the course is stretched out over a few weeks.

Courses range in duration from four to seven weeks, and learning activities take an average of five hours a week to complete. Group discussions and tasks take place in asynchronous online discussion forums - which means you can do the work in your own time and space.

Training for RedR mentors is also delivered online, through a series of webinars supported by an online platform for discussions.

Self-paced e-learning

Mission Ready: Online security training for aid workers in the field

Blended e-learning

Tailor Mission Ready to your organisation's needs through our 'blended learning' package, which combines self-paced and e-facilitated training.

Learners complete each of the self-paced Mission Ready modules over a set timeframe.

After completing each module, learners take part in added online debriefs guided by a RedR security trainer, using online classroom technology.

These are designed to help them apply the security management tools to their work more easily.

Read our flyer for full details of the aims and activities of the 'blended learning' package. To book the 'blended learning' package, contact the Mission Ready team.
