  • A Thank You from RedR UK’s President: HRH, The Princess Royal

This year, RedR UK celebrates its 40th anniversary.

Since our founding in 1980, we have responded to numerous disasters around the world, each one having provided valuable lessons that we have learnt from and adapted to, in order to improve the quality and impact of our training.

Over the past 40 years, RedR UK has trained thousands of humanitarian responders in the UK and overseas. Industry leaders, aspiring and established humanitarians, and first responders to international relief efforts; all have benefitted from RedR UK training.

2020 has proved to be one of the most challenging

Our ability to adapt and respond quickly has never been more relevant than with our response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In total, we have trained 3,000 humanitarians from 91 countries.

One of the most difficult but worthwhile tasks was to transfer all of our sessions online. This included remote COVID-19 training courses for local responders in the Middle East, North Africa and the UK to counter the devastating effects of the pandemic in their respective communities.

This year, we have also undertaken projects such as the Africa Catalyst and Uganda Skills Projects, providing engineers with the skills and knowledge to prepare for and respond to humanitarian crises across Africa. In the Philippines, we delivered another successful course on Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction and extended this training to Bangladesh, with more courses scheduled for the new year.

What is clear is that our work remains diverse and necessary, as we continue to respond to some of the most important global disasters of our time.

A word from our President, HRH The Princess Royal

Thank you to our staff, community and donors

Together with RedR UK's President, HRH The Princess Royal, we want to take this moment to acknowledge and thank everyone involved in our work and part of our community.

We would like to thank our dedicated staff, associate trainers, and volunteers without whom it would not have been possible to deliver the online training sessions that build capacity for the sector where it’s needed the most, at such high quality.

Thank you to our patrons, corporate partners, and donors who have made our work possible and have continued to support us throughout the years.

Many thanks to our invaluable fundraising heroes and advocates who raise money for RedR UK so that we can continue to plan for the years ahead.

And lastly, thank you to the entire humanitarian sector for continuing to support RedR UK and using us as a resource to train staff and aid workers around the world.

Without your support, hard work, and dedication our continued efforts to build capacity within the sector would not be possible.

Together we are making a difference.
