What We Do

From our offices in London, we support humanitarian response in the UK and Europe, run international projects, and implement a range of cross-cutting global initiatives.

For those looking to get into the humanitarian sector, we offer a one-day workshop called 'So You Think You Want to be a Relief Worker?', along with a five-day course in the 'Essentials of Humanitarian Practice'. Both courses run several times a year; please keep an eye on our course finder for the latest dates.

Evaluating Our Impact

The humanitarian sector is increasingly focused on building capacity at local level. But it can be hard to demonstrate the link between training / capacity-building and improvements in the quality of programming. We've been working with the University of Sussex to better understand and enhance the impact of our capacity-building work - particularly for those who benefit from humanitarian aid.

The evidence of good practice that emerged from the research can be incorporated in to the design of capacity-building activities.

Ebola Pre-Deployment Training

Between 2014 and 2016, RedR UK contributed to the UK-led response to the Ebola epidemic in West Africa by training NHS volunteers - along with Danish, Norwegian, and South Korean medical teams - to work as effectively and safely as possible in Ebola Treatment Centres (ETCs) in Sierra Leone.

Security Incident Information Management (SIIM)

From our offices in the UK, we also run several projects that seek to improve humanitarian response at a global level. The ECHO-funded Security Incident Information Management (SIIM) project aims to improve the way data on security incidents affecting humanitarian organisations is collected, shared and used - ensuring essential information is accessible to those who need it most.

Standardising Professional Development in the Humanitarian Sector

Research shows there is an appetite amongst learning providers for a global standard that's specific to the humanitarian sector - enabling them to demonstrate and improve the quality of their services. To this end, RedR UK - in partnership with Bioforce Institute, the Humanitarian Leadership Academy, and Pearson Education - is leading a global consultation process: and we need your input.
