On the 23 April they gave up their Sunday to run through the streets of London with over 38,000 others for the biggest London Marathon ever.
The day was a complete success, with all of the runners finishing the marathon in fantastic times, and in perfect running weather. They were undoubtedly helped by the thousands of spectators cheering and spurring them on, but they also finished because of their commitment and dedication.
We would like to thank the RedR London Marathon team for training so hard over the recent months and for running over 100 miles on behalf of RedR. Together they have fundraised over £6,000, and are expecting a further £2,000 in matched funding, which will help us continue to provide vital humanitarian support across the world.
Ivan Williams, who ran the marathon for RedR in 2016 and 2017 especially appreciated the crowds' support on the day: "The fantastic weather conditions on marathon day made the run overall a pleasant respite. I elected to run without music for the entire marathon so I could take in the experience of running in the fantastically supportive and vocal London crowds (I wasn’t disappointed!!). A really really fantastic day and I thank RedR for allowing me to be part of the team again."
