  • Fundraiser of the Month, June 2017: Brecon Beacon Trekkers

This month four intrepid explorers undertook 25km treks on behalf of RedR UK!

We are extremely grateful for the support of Vivi Kefala from Corporate supporter firm Hewson Consulting Engineers, Winnie Wong, and both of their challenge partners, Georgios and Kacy.

The four of them participated in Trekfest on behalf of RedR over the weekend 3-4th June. Together they trekked 100km over the Brecon Beacons across steep ascents and tricky terrain, summiting one of the highest peaks in South Wales- Pen Y Fan. Thanks to their dedication and hard work during training and on the day, both pairs completed the challenge in under 8 hours.

In recognition of their commitment, the two pairs received over £560 in sponsorship. This will go towards RedR’s capacity building humanitarian work, which will help provide support and training to even more aid workers, agencies and local communities across the world.

It was great to be out in the country and breathing in the fresh air, and more wonderful being with people doing the same wonderful thing for a great cause. It was a bit steep ascending Pen Y Fan, but it was nothing compared to the other hills and mountains that we've walked. I would absolutely recommend it.

TrekFest was an exciting but also challenging experience! The event was very well-organised and we really enjoyed it to the fullest, carrying out the 25km route in 7hrs 53 min! I chose to fundraise for RedR to help people suffering from major disasters and make the world a better place for everyone.
