Understand the importance of cooperation between engineers and stakeholders in the post-earthquake response, tailored to recovery efforts in NW Syria

RedR UK is offering a free-of-charge, innovative, high-quality online training course aiming to provide engineers of all disciplines in Syria and Türkiye with an understanding of the crucial technical role local engineers play in the post-earthquake recovery efforts in NW Syria. The module will explore the optimal approaches for effective collaboration and coordination between engineers and other stakeholders involved. Additionally, the training will address the significant challenges and opportunities associated with the recovery efforts and provide insights on how to effectively target them.

The facilitated module uses participatory methods and it is expected that learners will participate in discussions and activities in order to deepen their understanding of the concepts that are discussed. Participants will be offered opportunities to share relevant personal experiences and reflections to benefit their own and others' learning.

Module Aim

To illuminate the crucial technical role of local engineers in the post-earthquake recovery efforts and provide an understanding of the optimal approaches for effective collaboration and coordination between engineers and other stakeholders involved.

Module Objectives

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the engineering sector in NW Syria
  • Find the gaps that the engineering sector and humanitarian can fill together
  • Utilise the facilitative role of engineers in their work
  • Identify potential areas for collaboration and support, contributing to the development of the engineering sector
  • Promote sustainable and effective engineering solutions in the region

Course Structure

The module comprises one live facilitated sessions, of 120 minutes duration.

Participants will be required to watch a short video and complete pre-reading prior to the live session.

How to join?

If you would like to attend, please register through Eventbrite. You will receive instructions on how to join the course after registration.

The live online sessions are hosted on Zoom. We recommend joining via the Zoom app. Participants may join the training via a browser, although the browser offers limited access to some of the interactive features of the training. Participants will be expected to have a stable internet connection and to actively participate in all facilitated sessions.
