RedR UK is offering a free-of-charge, innovative, high-quality four-day online training course aiming to provide technical responders of all disciplines with the understanding and expertise needed to navigate the complexities of managing humanitarian projects effectively. From planning to evaluation, learn the essential skills to make a meaningful impact in crisis situations.

The facilitated course uses participatory methods and it is expected that learners will participate in discussions and activities in order to deepen their understanding of the concepts that are discussed. Participants will be offered opportunities to share relevant personal experiences and reflections to benefit their own and others' learning.

Module Aim

To gain an understanding of how to navigate the complexities of managing humanitarian projects effectively

Module Objectives

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • List the stages of the project cycle and issues that may arise.
  • Define the purpose and principles of conducting effective assessments.
  • Demonstrate how to set project goals and develop logical planning frameworks.
  • Identify resource management techniques for the critical stages of an emergency.
  • List the financial risks in the critical stages of an emergency and identify their potential impact and how to manage them.
  • State the purpose and principles of effective monitoring and evaluation, and create useful reports.

Course Structure

The module comprises four live facilitated sessions of 150 minutes duration taking place between Sunday 12th May and Wednesday 15th May 2024.

Please ensure you can make all sessions before registering.

Participants will be required to complete pre-reading prior to the first session.

Who should attend?

The module is aimed at those responding to humanitarian crises.

This course is offered for free; on a first come first served basis. We will be creating a waiting list, so please email us if the course is already full so we can keep you in mind if anybody drops out.

How to join?

The live online sessions are hosted on Zoom. We recommend joining via the Zoom app. Participants may join the training via a browser, although the browser offers limited access to some of the interactive features of the training. Participants will be expected to have a stable internet connection and to actively participate in all facilitated sessions.

If you complete registration and are no longer able to attend, please cancel your place through Eventbrite. This allows us to offer your place to someone else on the wait list.
