Exploring the importance of conducting a needs assessment when setting up a humanitarian response.
This module is part of a series of four modules on project cycle management. The four modules are:
- Needs Assessment
- Project Identification and Design
- Project Planning and Implementation
- Monitoring and Evaluation
This module explores why it is important to conduct a needs assessment, the different types of data you can collect and provides an overview of some of the tools that you can use. The module is contextualised for Ukraine and its neighbouring countries receiving refugees.
The module is a live session that will take place on zoom. The session provides opportunities for learners to actively participate in the session and to apply the learning to their own context.

To explore the importance of conducting a needs assessment when setting up a humanitarian response.
Module Objectives
By the end of the session you will be able to:
- Explain the importance of undertaking a needs assessment at the start of the project cycle
- Describe the types of data you might want to collect to inform your work and describe how you can collect these data
- List tools to analyse collected data.
Course Structure
The module comprises a live facilitated session of 60 minutes’ duration.
Participants will be asked to watch a short video prior to the live session.
Who should attend?
Anyone responding to the humanitarian needs of people affected by the conflict inside and outside Ukraine, who would like to know more about how to conduct a needs assessment. This is a beginner level course.
This course is offered for free; on a first come, first served basis. We will be creating a waiting list, so please email us if the course is already full so we can keep you in mind if anybody drops out.
How to join
If you would like to attend, please register through Eventbrite. You will receive instructions on how to join the course after registration.
The live online sessions are hosted on Zoom. We recommend joining via the Zoom app. Participants may join the training via a browser, although the browser offers limited access to some of the interactive features of the training. Participants will be expected to have a stable internet connection and to actively participate in all facilitated sessions.
What is the language of the training?
Training will be facilitated by RedR UK international experts in the English language with simultaneous interpretation available in Ukrainian.

Hpass badge

Зміст модуля
Цей модуль є частиною серії яка складається з чотирьох модулів описуючих цикли управління гуманітарними проектами. Назви модулів наступні:
• оцінка потреб
• ідентифікація та розробка проекту
• Планування та реалізація проекту
• Моніторинг та оцінка результатів проекту
Цей модуль досліджує, чому важливо проводити оцінку потреб, різні типи даних, які ви можете збирати, і надає огляд деяких інструментів, які ви можете використовувати. Модуль контекстуалізований для України та сусідніх країн, які приймають біженців.
Модуль буде проведено онлайн (наживо), на базі платформи zoom. Сесія дає можливість учасникам брати активну участь у сесії та застосувати отриманні знання в рамках власного контексту.
Мета модулю
Вивчити важливість проведення оцінки потреб під час організації гуманітарної допомоги.
Цілі модулю
До кінця сесії ви зможете:
• Пояснити важливість проведення оцінки потреб на початку проектного циклу
• Описати типи даних, які ви, можливо, захочете зібрати для інформування про хід своєї роботи, та описати, як ви можете збирати ці дані
• Зробити перелік інструментів для аналізу зібраних даних.
Хто може взяти участь?
Усім, хто реагує на гуманітарні потреби людей, які постраждали від конфлікту в Україні та за її межами, тим хто хотів би дізнатися більше про те, як провести оцінку потреб. Це курс початкового рівня.
Цей курс пропонується безкоштовно, в порядку черги. Ми створимо список очікування, тому, будь ласка, напишіть нам, якщо курс (список учасників) вже заповнений, щоб ми могли мати на увазі, якщо з’явиться вільне місце.
