Needs Assessment (Humanitarian Project Cycle Management) (Eng/Polish)

Exploring the importance of conducting a needs assessment when setting up a humanitarian response.

This module is part of a series of four modules on project cycle management. The four modules are:

  • Needs Assessment
  • Project Identification and Design
  • Project Planning and Implementation
  • Monitoring and Evaluation

This module explores why it is important to conduct a needs assessment, the different types of data you can collect and provides an overview of some of the tools that you can use. The module is contextualised for Ukraine and its neighbouring countries receiving refugees.

The module is a live session that will take place on zoom. The session provides opportunities for learners to actively participate in the session and to apply the learning to their own context.

Module aim

To explore the importance of conducting a needs assessment when setting up a humanitarian response. 

Module Objectives

By the end of the session you will be able to:

  • Explain the importance of undertaking a needs assessment at the start of the project cycle
  • Describe the types of data you might want to collect to inform your work and describe how you can collect these data
  • List tools to analyse collected data.

Course Structure

The module comprises a live facilitated session of 60 minutes’ duration.

Participants will be asked to watch a short video prior to the live session.

Who should attend?

Anyone responding to the humanitarian needs of people affected by the conflict inside and outside Ukraine, who would like to know more about how to conduct a needs assessment. This is a beginner level course.

This course is offered for free; on a first come, first served basis. We will be creating a waiting list, so please email us if the course is already full so we can keep you in mind if anybody drops out.

How to join

If you would like to attend, please register through Eventbrite. You will receive instructions on how to join the course after registration.

The live online sessions are hosted on Zoom. We recommend joining via the Zoom app. Participants may join the training via a browser, although the browser offers limited access to some of the interactive features of the training. Participants will be expected to have a stable internet connection and to actively participate in all facilitated sessions.

What is the language of the training?

Training will be facilitated by RedR UK international experts in the English language with simultaneous interpretation available in Ukrainian.

Hpass badge

Ten moduł jest częścią serii czterech modułów na temat zarządzania cyklem projektu. Te cztery moduły to:

• Ocena potrzeb

• Identyfikacja i opracowanie projektu

• Planowanie i implementacja projektu

• Monitorowanie i ocena projektu

Ten moduł rozważa, dlaczego przeprowadzanie oceny potrzeb jest istotne, jakie są różne rodzaje danych, które można zbierać oraz jakie są niektóre narzędzia, z których można korzystać. Moduł przedstawiany jest w kontekście Ukrainy i krajów sąsiadujących, które przyjmują uchodźców.

Ten kurs odbywa się na sesji na żywo online na platformie zoom. Uczestnicy mają możliwość brania aktywnego udziału w sesji oraz zastosowania nowych informacji w swoim własnym kontekście.

Cel modułu

Rozważenie tego, jak ważne jest prowadzenie oceny potrzeb w uruchamianiu pomocy humanitarnej. 

Czego nauczy ten moduł

W czasie tej sesji uczestnicy nauczą się:

• Wyjaśnić, jak ważne jest prowadzenie oceny potrzeb na początku cyklu projektu

• Opisać typy danych, które możesz chcieć zbierać, aby posłużyły w waszej pracy oraz jak można te dane zbierać

• Wymienić narzędzia służące do analizy zebranych danych

Kto powinien wziąć udział?

Każdy, kto angażuje się w pomoc humanitarną dla osób dotkniętych konfliktem przebywających na Ukrainie lub poza, a chce dowiedzieć się więcej na temat tego, jak prowadzić ocenę potrzeb. Ten kurs jest dla początkujących.

Moduł składa się z 60-minutowej sesji na żywo ze szkoleniowcem.

Jak wziąć udział?

Aby wziąć udział, należy zarejestrować się przez platformę Evenbrite.

Po rejestracji otrzymasz instrukcje, jak się połączyć.

Kurs będzie odbywał się na żywo przez Zoom.

Sugerujemy, aby łączyć się przez aplikację Zoom.

Uczestnicy mogą łączyć się przez przeszukiwarkę, ale wtedy niektóre interaktywne funkcje kursu mogą być niedostępne.

Uczestnicy powinni mieć stabilne połączenie internetowe i brać aktywny udział we wszystkich sesjach ze szkoleniowcem.

W jakim języku przeprowadzane jest szkolenie?

W języku angielskim (dostępne tłumaczenie symultaniczne na język polski)

Znak Hpass

Po zakończeniu kursu uczestnicy będą mogli ubiegać się o Znak HPass, czyli cyfrową plakietkę, dzięki której można zasygnalizować posiadanie danych umiejętności i doświadczeń w sektorze pomocy humanitarnej.
