Enabling participants to use assessment data to identify and design a project based on needs and their organisation’s capacities and mandate
This module is part of a series of four modules on project cycle management. The four modules are:
- Needs Assessment
- Project Identification and Design
- Project Planning and Implementation
- Monitoring and Evaluation
This module explores how to use evidence collected in needs assessment, an understanding of gaps in provision and an analysis of organisational strengths to identify potential projects to implement, how to select appropriate projects and how to present these to potential donors using a logical framework.
The module is contextualised for the Pakistan floods response.
The module is a live session that will take place on zoom. The session provides opportunities for learners to actively participate in the session and to apply the learning to their own context.
*Note that the module is short and is intended to provide an introduction to the topic. The key messages document that will be shared at the end of the session provides a summary of all of the key points as well as further learning that they can undertake after the module to deepen their understanding of the concepts that are introduced.
Module aim
To enable participants to use assessment data to identify and design a project based on needs and their organisation’s capacities and mandate.
Module Objectives
By the end of the session you will be able to:
- Describe how to identify and design a project based on evidence of need, understanding of gaps in provision and organisational strengths
- Explain the key features and purpose of problem trees, SWOT analysis and gap analysis
- List cross-cutting issues to consider in project design
- Describe the purpose and key features of a logical framework
- Formulate outcomes, outputs and activities for a project
- Explain what assumptions, indicators and means of verification are,
- Specify ways to improve funding proposals
Course Structure
The module comprises two live facilitated sessions of 60 minutes’ duration each, with a 15-min break in between. TOTAL = 120 minutes.
Participants will be asked to watch a short video prior to the live sessions.
Who should attend?
Anyone responding to the humanitarian needs of people affected by the recent floods in Pakistan.
This course is offered for free; on a first come, first served basis. We will be creating a waiting list, so please email us if the course is already full so we can keep you in mind if anybody drops out.
How to join
If you would like to attend, please register through Eventbrite. You will receive instructions on how to join the course after registration.
The live online sessions are hosted on Zoom. Zoom link to attend the training will be sent to your email before the session starts. If you have any trouble, please email us at training@redr.org.uk and we will help you. We recommend joining via the Zoom app. Participants may join the training via a browser, although the browser offers limited access to some of the interactive features of the training. Participants will be expected to have a stable internet connection and to actively participate in all facilitated sessions.
